ABOUT US

We met in January of 1993 in a coffee house, where chance would have us sit side by side. We were married in June of 1995 and have built a very strong, loving, supportive marriage. We both have a deep desire to extend our love and support to a child and to provide that child with wonderful childhood memories. We chose open adoption because we believe it benefits everyone involved. We feel that open adoption allows the child to know his/her heritage, and gives the birth mother confidence in knowing that her child is being well taken care of. In our free time, we both enjoy taking our dogs, Max and Shelby, for hikes in the nearby mountains, traveling, or just spending the day shopping and having lunch together. We can’t wait to include a child in these fun activities.

ABOUT OUR FAMILY

We are both very close to our families. Our child will be spoiled by grandparents, aunts and uncles! Cindy’s parents live five minutes away, so our child will have loving grandparents nearby. Cindy’s sister and her husband (along with their two daughters) live a little over an hour away in Pasadena. We spend a lot of time with them so our child will have two playmates at family get togethers. In fact Victoria, the five-year -old, is already picking out toys for the two of them to play with. Every time we see her, she asks when the baby is coming!

Ken’s mother ( a very excited grandmother to be) lives two hours away in Orange County. Ken’s sister and her husband also live in Orange County. We see them often and go on vacations together, usually to mountain resorts like Mammoth Mountain or Sun Valley, Idaho. Ken also has a brother and sister-in-law that live in Phoenix, Arizona.

Everybody in our family is so excited about us adopting a child. They are all already planning birthday parties for him/her and are planning on spoiling him/her like crazy at Christmas.

ABOUT CINDY – by Ken

Cindy is the most loving, caring, warm and sensitive woman that I have ever met. She puts love into everything that she does, whether it’s decorating the house for a birthday or holiday, or baking sweets for all of the officers at my work. Cindy is a preschool teacher at Edwards Air Force Base. She is loved immensely by both her students and their parents. The parents are always commenting on the tremendous amount of attention she gives to the children, and how the children respond in such a positive manner. Watching Cindy with her students or our two nieces (ages 5 and 2) is almost magical. Cindy gives them so much love and encouragement and you can really see them blossom and grow as a result. Cindy plans on taking our child with her to work so that they can learn to interact with other children and have plenty of playmates. Cindy’s passions are cooking, baking, and decorating for the various holidays. Cindy also loves taking care of our two nieces . I think that Cindy will be an incredible mom!

ABOUT KEN – by Cindy

Ken is very strong, loving, and caring. He has been my rock, always encouraging me through life’s many challenges. Ken is a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and loves serving the community. He enjoyed working in Juvenile Detectives where part of his job was to counsel kids heading down the wrong path. Ken generally has four days off per week, and he is looking forward to spending them with a son/daughter; cheering him/her on at a BMX race or seeing his/her face light up as we spot a deer on a hike in the mountains. Prior to being a police officer, he had a career in the Air Force where he flew on transport aircraft, traveling the world. Both jobs encourage family values and a good strong moral base. Ken has a strong belief between right and wrong. He is very physically active and enjoys biking, martial arts, and weightlifting. Ken also has a great (somewhat mischievous) sense of humor and is a big kid at heart. I love watching him play and wrestle on the floor with our two nieces, or the big smile on his face after he finishes a mountain bike ride. With all his wonderful qualities, he will make a wonderful dad.

COMMUNITY

We live in a spacious house with a huge backyard in the town of Quartz Hill, perfect for playing on a swingset or chasing the dogs. Quartz Hill is a small town with excellent schools. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe and we have wonderful neighbors. We live within five minutes of the mountains and within an hour of the beach. Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and other various theme parks are within an easy drive. We can’t wait to see the excitement on our child’s face the first time he/she sees Mickey Mouse at Disneyland!
